Our son discovered Brazil’s national drink during Carnaval in Rio. Here, we try to recreate the version that fuels the bloccos. This is a strong, sweet drink, but you can adjust the sugar to suit your own taste.
half a lime
1–2 teaspoons sugar
1 cup crushed ice
50 ml (1.7 ounces) cachaça
Put lime and sugar in short glass, and muddle. Add ice and cachaça, and stir thoroughly.
