The martini, like the gin that makes it, can be surprisingly complicated. Arguments about the quantity of vermouth and the appropriate garnish really come down to what will suit the gin being used. Here is our favourite martini recipe, best with a classic dry gin with bright aromatics.
2 ounces London Dry gin (or similar style)
1/2 ounce vermouth
lemon twist
Combine gin and vermouth in a stirring glass and fill with ice. Stir thoroughly and strain into martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
