Our gateway whiskey cocktail, smooth and sophisticated. We like it best with rye, but bourbon also works.
2 ounces rye whiskey
3/4 ounce sweet or bittersweet vermouth
several dashes Angostura bitters
orange peel twist
Combine whiskey, vermouth, and bitters in a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir thoroughly and strain into a martini glass. Top with an orange peel twist.
Note:
Have fun with bitters! We like walnut, orange, and plum, in different combinations as the spirit moves us.
