Sidecar


A prohibition-era classic. 
 

          2 ounces brandy or Cognac
          1 ounce Cointreau
          3/4 ounce lemon juice
          lemon or orange twist for garnish

Combine ingredients in a shaker and shake thoroughly with ice. Strain into coupe glass and garnish.

*Alternatively: Replace the brandy with bourbon and serve on ice in a rocks glass. Or replace the lemon juice with Amaretto for a nutty version.
